The publisher tells him that he is trying to sell Rajendra Kumar in the era of Amitabh Bachchan and asks him to write something that will excite the readers. At the start of the show, we see a struggling writer Rajaram, played by Anshuman Jha, going to a publisher with his new novel, Devika Ki Vyatha, only to be coldly rejected.

There are many stories about the 80s’ but one that never really gets told is that of Mastram, the quintessential writer of this era who spoke the lingo of the Hindi heartland. There were no computers or internet so the only way to write about such topics was through books. While it was a revolutionary time, we still lived in a conservative society where talking about sex or desires was frowned upon and something only men would talk about in secret.
